Why do you like photography?

I find photography really therapeutic for me, as someone who grew up preferring to stay in doors. I wanted to change my ways in adulthood, so it became a reason to get out of the house and explore NSW. It quickly became my favourite hobby, and it’s done wonders for my creative drive and social life!

What made you want to be a part of the PA community?

After getting my feet wet in analogue photography, and mostly going out shooting on my own, I wanted to find like-minded individuals to explore and create with. I saw a PA “Photo walk” event on Facebook one day and saw it as a chance to push myself even further out of my comfort zone. I took that chance and never looked back.

Which theme did you choose and what was your thought process behind the images?

The theme I chose was shape. Being in lockdown, it's hard to move around, and my LGA just isn't inspiring me any more. I decided to scale it back and shift my focus to capture what I had been doing to pass the time. I love movies, video games, music and books and I decided to capture it by doing a little photoshoot with the small retro collection of VHS, cassette tapes and PlayStation games I’ve amassed. They all share the same (or similar) rectangular shape… yeah I know it’s a bit of a stretch.

Any advice to those who want to join the group?

Give it a go! What have you got to lose? Come along on the next walk and enjoy the relaxed, creative atmosphere this group provides, and the traditional post-walk pub session is a nice bonus. Not a bad way to spend a weekend if you ask me!
