Why do you like photography?
I love the feeling of getting 'the shot'. There are many technical aspects that can describe why a photo works, but it's also just a feeling. I am currently studying a Diploma of Photography at Ultimo TAFE. I also love working in the studio: setting up studio strobes, backgrounds, reflectors, all sorts of stands, and getting the camera to sync to a computer with a tether. I can produce and craft the light exactly how I want it. Aside from my studio work, I love to shoot live music and dance, and dancer portraits. The aim is to combine my passions, and get paid to do what I love.

What made you want to be a part of the PA community?
I was just looking for a photo walk at Vivid Sydney a few years ago, probably many years ago by this point, and PA Sydney’s walk came up in my Google search. Once I met Jackie and the crew, I just knew they were my people and the rest as they say, is history!
Which theme did you choose and what was your thought process behind the images?
I chose the nature theme for my PA Exposed shots. During the most recent lockdown, I took my new Sigma 105mm macro out for a spin on my Canon 6D and fell in love with nature macro shots. I just knew I had to use this technique and theme for my shots here. Even though it was always windy, I was able to stop and slow down by using macro. It takes significantly longer to get one decent shot when the wind is involved. It allowed me to look at and appreciate light differently. Light is what makes or breaks a photograph. How it falls on your subject is the most important thing to consider in all photography.

Any advice to those who want to join the group?
Just do it! If you love photography, you will love this group. It is not just a photo walk group; it is also a community. You will have new friends for life! For those introverts, like myself, it may feel overwhelming to rock up to a new group of people on your own, but take it from me, Jackie and the crew are very welcoming and always make you feel like family. We’ve got you!
