Why do you like photography?
Photography has been a constant in my life since I was a child. I wasn't always very good at it, but it was a touchstone I could return to continually as the circumstances around me changed. When I was a teenager I started to truly enjoy the technical aspects of photography, and the control I could have by developing and printing my own work.
What made you want to be a part of the PA community?
I fell into a bit of a creative rut as a result of being unmotivated to go out and shoot - I didn't have many friends who were interested in photography with the same intensity as I had, and going exploring alone isn't as much fun as having good company.
Which theme did you choose and what was your thought process behind the images?
I went with nature - nature is so often misrepresented, and living where I do in the Blue Mountains, provides an amazing opportunity to see the other side, as it were. Our own participation in the natural world - humanity as part of nature - is also often misrepresented or cast aside, but I wanted to have some fun with it.
Any advice to those who want to join the group?
Just do it! We're friendly, approachable, and we're all here because we like taking photos. If you rock up with a desire to take photos and maybe hang out with some nice like-minded folks, you'll enjoy any PA event. Unless it's raining. Learned that one the hard way.
